With a Servant Heart

This is a poem written by Belinda, a member of SOURCE during Lent this year. It is about SOURCE Community from her point of view.

With a Servant Heart

With a servant listening heart
It’s quite unassuming influence
Reliability of commitment
God’s understated significance

With a servant active heart
Evangelism to encourage
All bound in love and boundless kindness
God’s energizing spirit wrapped in joy and courage

With a servant simplistic heart
Innocence and trust within the eyes
Childlike awe and wonder
Beauty of God’s uplifting soul belies

With a servant sentimental heart
Harmony of conversation
Bringing a smile to every person
Thoughtful and social God’s interaction

With a servant caring heart
Practical sympathy and laughter
Non-judgmental understanding
God’s comfort of being looked after

With a servant holistic heart
Through vulnerability and adversity
Facing life in all honesty
A special kind of God’s spirituality

With a servant seeking heart
In that very reaching
To bring a life of meaning
Affirming in God’s teaching

With a servant accepting heart
Positive with ideas and enthusiasm
Questioning life’s calling
Laying at God’s feet all burdens

With a servant demanding heart
Through leading from the center
Such empathy and compassion
Showing how to God's will to surrender

With a servant ministering heart
Pursuance of truth and spontaneity
Nothing impossible, unbelievable, unachievable
Inspiring God’s confidence, love and sensitivity

We all have a service heart, each valued, setting us apart
Working as one together, supporting encouraging each other
With our differences, perceptions for God’s missional directions
