To be a Pilgrim

Pilgrims Progress - Robert Stuart Davies

Over the next couple of weeks, SOURCE cell groups will be starting 'Pilgrim' - written by Stephen Cottrell (Bishop of Chelmsford), Stephen Croft and Paula Gooder it is a short course of 6 weeks, both for those who are looking to find out about the Christian faith and for Christians who want to understand their faith better.

Each week, we will be meditating on and talking about different aspects of living out the Christian faith and exploring this in prayerful and practical ways - for example, what does it mean to want justice as a Christian? What does it mean to be 'poor in spirit' or to be forgiving?

And don't worry if you cannot commit to coming every week - we will be able to give you a copy of the books we are using so that you can continue to explore the course yourself, and someone from each cell group will be available to talk through what you've been reading, thinking about and praying about.

Each cell group will be using a different part of the course, and it will be happening at various venues around the Hythe so if you would like to join us (or you know someone who would), would like more information, or have questions about the course, please contact us: either on our email address [sourcehythe@gmail.com], via facebook or twitter, give us a call or leave a comment at the bottom here and we will get back to you.

Who would true Valour see
Let him come hither;
One here will Constant be,
Come Wind, come Weather.
There's no Discouragement,
Shall make him once Relent,
His first avow'd Intent,
To be a Pilgrim.

Who so beset him round,
With dismal Storys,
Do but themselves Confound;
His Strength the more is.
No Lyon can him fright,
He'l with a Gyant Fight,
But he will have a right,
To be a Pilgrim.

Hobgoblinnor foul Fiend,
Can daunt his Spirit:
He knows, he at the end,
Shall Life Inherit.
Then Fancies fly away,
He'l fear not what men say,
He'l labour Night and Day,
To be a Pilgrim.

(The Pilgrim - John Bunyon)
