Colchester Council Ward Boundary Changes - Information Evening 24.07.2014

The public consultation process for the ward boundary changes in Colchester ends on August 4th and SOURCE are hosting a special Forum, to provide information about this at the Hythe Community Centre on 24.07.2014.

This will give the community of the Hythe an opportunity to look at the information and submit their views, or find out where to do so. Currently, the Hythe is covered by four different council wards, so this will also be an opportunity for those living in Newtown, St Andrews, Harbour and Castle wards to submit their views about this too.

Information leaflets and posters are going out this week:

Are you aware of the new political ward boundary changes?Currently the Hythe is covered by four separate political wards.Would you like the Hythe to be affiliated to fewer wards? Would you like the Hythe to become a distinct, new ward?Find out more at a special ‘Forum’ meeting –
at Hythe Community Centre on Thursday 24 July, 2014 7.00pm-8.00pm
If you cannot come along on that date, then please get in touch with us so that we can help you. Email sourcehythe@gmail.com and Belinda, Sheila or Ali will get back to you as soon as they can.

UPDATE 23/10/2014: The draft proposal is now available to view here and you are invited to submit your comments here. The draft proposals suggest that Old Heath (rather than Newtown) expand to include the whole of the Hythe.  Whilst we did not expect to become our own ward on this occasion, we are a little concerned that the only reference to the Hythe is as an area of Marshland, so it is important that we remind people that the Hythe is an area where people live and work!

Comments can be submitted from individuals and groups until 9th January 2015.
